Penny Menke, CNM

My diploma in nursing was earned at Mounds Midway School of nursing in 1980, my Bachelor of Arts in Nursing was at Metropolitan State University in 1987 and my Masters of Science in Nursing/Certified Nurse-Midwife education was earned at the University of Minnesota in 1996.

The majority of my nursing experience was spent working in labor and delivery at the University of Minnesota and Unity hospitals. Through my experiences at the U of M, I taught outreach education to rural hospitals. I also transported high-risk patients from out state and the Dakotas to our Level III center. In addition, I worked for Healthspan Homecare visiting families in their homes and making mother and baby assessments. Another role that I have performed is that of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Hennepin County. My role as a Certified Nurse-Midwife has taken me to a Family Planning clinic, to Stillwater Medical Group where I was the first nurse-midwife in that practice, and to HealthPartners.

I now live in Blaine and have four young adults, including a set of identical twin girls. My interests are biking, camping, travel, photography, gardening, waterskiing, volunteering at my church and playing in the hand bell choir. I hope to pursue scuba diving soon. My philosophy of midwifery is that we encourage women to accomplish that which they believe they cannot. My special interests in midwifery include twins and VBACs.
